Centuri Black Widow colors
2 Attachment(s)
I may be building a Centuri Black Widow in January. I built only one before (pictured) and I don't know if I used the correct colors (I used Dupli-color metallic black and Dupli-color metallic red, IIRC.) I believe the Black Widow was discontinued just before Centuri had a full color catalog.
Does anyone know what the correct colors should be? I would assume the dark sections should indeed be black, but what should the lighter sections be? White? Yellow? Orange? Red? I don't remember if the instructions specified colors. Thanks! |
The color Centuri catalog ones I have seen are white in your red sections with red pinstriping.

Yep, black and white is about all I remember seeing. The Black Widow was around until near the end of Centuri’s run. Here is the page from the full color 1972 catalog. Ah so! Thanks.

Here is the mid-70s or so onward face card for the kit.

FWIW, I painted mine per the 1971 catalog: http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/ca...d/71dcen36.html

Nice! That’s prettier than mine. Black and orange ALWAYS seems to work. |
I am not sure how it was painted, all I know is that I want to build one! :)

There is an old timer in my RC club that covers ALL of his aircraft except scale jobs in Orange/Black schemes. He likes the large contrast to be able to easily see the aircraft orientation in the sky.

My favorite R/C covering was a Sig Somethin' Extra in fluorescent orange and blue, which gives similar contrast. It's the only one ever covered that didn't match the kit cover art. |
