YORF Forum Display: Missing Avatar Images, Weird Text
Is it just me or are others seeing missing avatar images for some users (I?ve seen 4-5 different users a with just a ? where their avatar used to be), and in some other cases special text characters like apostrophes and such are being displayed as ?junk? text.
My posts are showing both issues. Been showing that way since probably sometime late this afternoon. Earl |
Yep, seeing same as you, Earl.

Yes, I see the same problem.

Hold me. I'm scared.

Lately, I've had problems with the login. The box for my login name holds onto the pointer and won't let me click the button.

This is like having Roddy Piper's glasses in "They Live". Based on what I see, you and I are the livestock. |
Looks like somehow the database got corrupted. I'll have to look into seeing if rebuilding tables/indexes can correct this. In order to do that the forum will have to be taken down.
It may be a couple of days before I'm able to get to this. |

If I lived closer, I would. That might be a little scary. |

Time to LOCK & LOAD ! ! ! Dave F. |
Unfortunately, I was not able to fix the issue. I don't know if my host upgraded something on their end that may have broke this almost 20yr old version of vBulletin or what. I ran a repair on the tables, and on the database as a whole. I optimized it and re-indexed it. No go. I don't have a backup to replace the database with. The system still works, just no avatars and once in awhile, not always, it messes up things like apostrophes. I tried re-uploading my avatar but that doesn't work either. For myself what I did was went into my User CP, chose Edit Avatar and turned off the Custom Avatar feature.
