I have seen the rubbery nose cones (long ogive, often a bit "Clintonian").

They also used the plastic fin unit from the skyrockets that Zenith made.

Here is a modern version, there was another slightly different version in the late 50's through the early 70's (IIRC).

if you look inside, you will find a modern version of a type A4 rock-a-chute motor.

Centuri corporation actually owned (and may still own - don't know how it's currently structured in the "Estes-Cox" era) Estes.

It appears that Centuri became Estes-Cox.

I did a search on the Colorado Secretary of State web site and, if I'm interpreting it right, "Centuri Corp." was renamed to "Estes-Cox Corp." on May 20, 1994.

"Estes-Cox Corp." is a Delaware corporation (although, of course, located in Penrose). The Delaware web site only gives limited information (unless you pay $20). It says "Estes-Cox Corp." was incorporated on March 10, 1994, then again on June 7, 2002. The first date corresponds with the name change in Colorado. The second date is listed, I guess, because Barry Tunick bought and re-organized the corporation.

There are still some references to "Centuri" at estesrockets.com (and the corporate domain they use is centurims.com), but I think these are just leftovers from the Centuri period.

Edit: I just realized I replied to an old message. But the above info is new to the discussion.

The first reference to "Estes-Cox Corp." that I ever saw was in 2002 after Tunick and partners bought the company from TCW. Estes was using "Centuri Corp." on packaging between 1994 and 2002.

Estes didn't purchase Cox until January 1996.

I didn't mean it THAT way; I meant it the OTHER way. Sorry for the confusion. :D

Sorry for the confusion. I think I misintepreted the records at the Colorado Secretary of State web site. The renaming to "Estes-Cox" is linked to a record dated 3/10/1994, but has a document number of 20031256810. The document number implies that the name change was effective in December of 2003. That makes more sense since "Estes-Cox" acquired "Centuri" in 2002.

But, if Centuri acquired Cox in 1996, why is there a record showing "Estes-Cox" incorporated in Delaware in 1994? My guess is that the record is really for "Centuri" but was changed to "Estes-Cox" when Estes-Cox acquired Centuri.

The date that the USPTO has for the "Merger & Name Change" from Centuri Corp to Estes-Cox is 8/27/2002.

I have dealt with the Shives @ PVHC (Penn Valley Hobby Center), great service!
They are a brick and mortar hobby shop.
