Electric Field Model Rockets from 1960
I was reading an old American Modeler magazine today from 1965. In G.H. Stines', monthly column. "Rocket Trails", he made mention of Electric Field Model Rockets. I had never heard of this so I did some internet research and found the following:

Interesting articles. I have to say I have never heard of that (potential) effect on rockets as outlined in the original findings by Dudley.
It is interesting that Stine’s efforts did not duplicate Dudley’s results. I wonder if any other tests were carried out later (as Stine alluded that might happen later in NY)? Still, interesting info...thanks for posting! Earl |
In the same article GHS says that a small paragraph in the July 1962 issue of Aviation Week states Wright-Patterson AFB experiments seemed to show that electrical fields can be made to change the flow characteristics around a body moving through the air.
From what I can tell from my Google fu, it seems that sounding rocket flights have proved that the exhaust plumes can create electro-static fields and actually have created their own lighting bolts during actual launches. This is probably how UFO's function in our atomsphere. 😳. They use electrostatic thrusters on satellites in orbit; ie we know them as electrostatic ion thrusters..... http://currentpropulsionsystems.wee...on-systems.html |
That entire site is very interesting. I cannot speak to the veracity of all the technologies (many of them have to be bogus) but man oh man is there a huge trove of perspectives and ideas there.
