JimZ site OK?
I just tried to visit, and received a "service unavailable" message. I've also noticed a sort of progressive deterioration of the JimZ site over time - stuff like files or images no longer available.

I could put a mirror on a stable website if I had a USB stick of the whole site. |
Well, I just tried a few of the Estes instruction sets and it all came up fine for me.

Working okay for me as well.

It would be a shame to lose it all. Needs to be backed up someplace.

At least some of the site is backed up at archive.org: http://wayback.archive.org/web/2016.../jimz/index.htm

yeah, I had to scrounge around there looking for some Centuri kits not too long ago...sometimes you may have the page, but the tif links are still missing, so you go back a little further... |

There seem to be a fair number of the Centuri plans with "dead" links the last year or so. It's kind of hit or miss, but some examples are the Orion, Payloader II, and T Bird. Those are just a few I can recall.....many others are in the same boat. Seems like maybe half have dead links on the tiff files. Those that have pdf download options are a bit better off, but still overall, the Centuri plan 'archive' there has some issues for sure. Earl |
So who in the whole wide world of rocketry has admin-level access to the JimZ site? Is it someone we know?

well, the host is this site http://www.spacemodeling.org/new/ and the page says the last update was July 10, 2006. For some reason, I thought DARS was hosting JimZ pages, but apparently not. I don't know any of the individuals with spacemodeling.org...anybody??? edit: the "About" page lists Bob Biedron. I don't know him personally, but have heard his name many times |
