Channel surfing - Kung Fu

Saw an old episode on the Decades channel co-starring William Shatner and France Nuyen ("Elaan of Troyius"). Shatner plays the sea captain (of course) and Nuyen plays the princess (of course). Caine schools the Captain (of course) but lets him off the hook. The Captain gets the girl in the end (of course).

The "Decades" channel always has a one-series "Binge" that starts Saturday mornings and ends at 7am Monday. I always found David Carradine's character on Kung Fu to be a real mouth-breathing DULLARD...that show is irritating beyond belief.
Last weekend was the "Kojak" binge....now THAT is a SHOW worth watching !

Yeah, they played episodes all weekend. Just dumb luck that I happened on it during what had to be the Emmy award winning episode of the series ! ;) I didn't watch it back in the day, but I remember being pretty jazzed by the Shaolin Temple graduation/branding ceremony from the original TV movie.

There was a BRANDING episode of "Kung Fu" ? That probably would have been worth seeing.
What did they brand him ? Should be "D" for dull.

The first Kung Fu was an ABC Movie of the Week. The most popular of those went on to become series so I guess you'd call it the pilot. You need to look for that scene, it's pretty badass !

I bought all three seasons in 2007. All but 1 are complete. Love all the episode's.

Dragons on the inside of his forearms. He had to put his arms around the hot kettle, the dragon reliefs were glowing red. Burned in "tattoo."

I have an old Biker friend who thought it would be cool to get the dragon/tiger tattoos on his arms....he had to fight a lot after that...

Ha ! Ha! No doubt, you make a statement with that kinda thing. :chuckle:

And I must make a small quibble with semantics. When the Shaolin monks put hot iron to flesh they were branded not tattooed. :)

Da plane! Da plane!

Oh, wrong tattoo. :o ;)

The only other 'movie' I have seen that features any sort of branding is "Reform School Girls" which was trashy and hilarious in the typical 80's sex-crazed teen-film genre.
One particular girl gets BRANDED on the bare butt-cheek by one of the 'senior' reform school inmates...it was hilarious.

Ha! Ha! When I described the Kung Fu branding scene as "bad-ass" I didn't mean it quite so literally.

I have a buddy that is about 15 years younger than me that is a biker and has LARGE areas of his anatomy covered by tattoos. He was very intelligent about it though in regards to employment...NONE of his art is visible if he wears a standard polo/golf style shirt.
Like myself, he is an engineer at a MAJOR automotive OEM and the powers that be in upper management tend to take a DIM VIEW at exposed 'body art' in the workplace.
I TRIED to convince him that BRANDING is the new latest he-man biker trend and he needed to go get literally branded at the nearest participating cattle ranch.
He unfortunately was UN-convinced although I continue to suggest it.

I love that show. Still have the DVD and watch the original movie once in a while. Would like to have all the episodes...

Last season of Yellowstone was a real ripoff.
