New kits!

Sorry about the scant posts lately. As usual, another major event and we are behind. We have been trying to finish up some that we have had in the works for a long time.

Coming up next:

SPEV - with BT-52 parts instead of BT-50 as originally planned (thanks John Brohn)
Defender - with all balsa transitions instead of the one paper one as original (thanks John Dyer)
Centurion - to match the original prototype (long balsa nose cone) instead of production (cheaper short plastic nose cone)

Hopefully, by NARCON...

This is only on SVDT thread, for now, until we get closer to having SOMETHING ready. The commemorative kit is the 50th Anniversary Mark II. It was 50 years ago that Orville Carlisle got G. Harry "hooked" on model rocketry with that rocket. Seems like only yesterday.

And... we now have the SVDT discount code activated for 30% discount to members. We were going to do 20% plus 10% for NAR members, but I think all but 2 SVDT members are also NAR members anyway.

Cool. I just finished an SPEV with 24mm power, but I'll definitely build a kit. The Defender and Centurion have been on my cloning list for a while also.

Golly, Mr. Wizard!

It's not often that I'm rendered speechless, but Carl seems to make that happen on a semi-regular basis. :D :p

So, are you doing reserved # kits still? If so, please put my name down for one of each of those. Thanks, Carl!

And here I thought the jaw-droppingly good Semroc service couldn't get any better....

Thanks, Carl!

Chas Russell 02-28-2007 10:15 AM

Yes, if you do reserve these three kits, I'd like two of each. The SPEV is good news, as I lost my original one due to a motor with a too-thick ceramic end cap.

Looked at my last credit card bill and noticed it had been a couple of months since my last order <g>! Figured SEMROC woudl be working on something good!

Chas

ghrocketman 02-28-2007 12:32 PM

Carl,
If you are holding a "reserve" list, please put me down for a Defender and a Centurion.
Thanks,
Jerry

Initiator001 02-28-2007 12:51 PM

Carl,

If there is a 'reserve' list...

Please put me down for one each of SPEV, Defender & Centurion.

I had been wondering what was up... ;)

Thanks,

Bob

Royatl 02-28-2007 04:13 PM

Definitely want me a SPEV or two or three! (even though I have four on my bench!)

A Fish Named Wallyum 02-28-2007 05:33 PM

I want one of each, but I'll be building them, so no need for low #s. ;)

My thoughts exactly. Whenever I get a low number kit, I think that maybe I should save it. But, that feeling passes in a couple of minutes and I can get to building.

The biggest problem I have is the fact that I have about 75 unbuilt kits and I probably buy 2 for every one I finish so the backlog is growing.

Carl,

Defender - Oh how I love a good cluster kit! Never had an original but always thought that was such a unique design. Now I'll be able to own one. I'll be ordering a Defender kit as soon as these become available.

After reading the instructions for the original kit, your kit with the balsa transition instead of the paper one will make assembly so much easier for a paper shroud challenged guy like myself :o

Also, thanks for the SVDT and NAR members discounts! As others have already mentioned it's generous and very much appreciated! I'm sure I'll put the discounts to good use as I'm coming up on needing some more parts again soon as well.

:D

Hey Carl,

Put me down for one each of numbered kits. If you're not doing numbered kits then I'll just order them when they're released. Thanks.

Just a quick reply. We are going back to the old method of the numbered kits (first come first serve). Carl will announce the kits to the SVDT a few hours before going public. As usual we are pushed for time-still waiting for the Centurion instructions. We were hoping to release them before NARCOM but they may not be shipped out until we get back.

Thank you all for your support of Semroc and your patience,

Sheryl

Chas Russell 03-06-2007 09:47 AM

Sheryl,

Not to be (more of a) pain (than I normally am), but have you already marked down those of us on this thread or will be have to respond once they are announce? Some of us are leaving Thursday to drive to NARCON and will not be near a computer.

Just completed the #17 SLS Aero-Dart and the #14 SLS Explorer, :D

Thank you for all you do for the rocketry community.

We just put them online. We will make the announcement later today.

ghrocketman 03-06-2007 02:26 PM

Sheryl,
I just checked the Semroc website and I do not see the new kits there yet.

I bought two Defender kits earlier. No problems.

Chas Russell 03-06-2007 05:48 PM

Okay, that's twice where if I had only used the "search" function...

Lost,
Chas

Initiator001 03-06-2007 07:30 PM

I just sent off my order. :D

What else might Carl have up his sleeve to release this year...? ;)

Bob

Ltvscout 03-06-2007 07:37 PM

Crud!

I got my order in, but it looks like I have a bunch of people ahead of me. :(

Yeah, well I hope I don't get caught for shopping new rocket kits at Semroc in the middle of the afternoon while at work .....

But I couldn't resist! My order was just updated to shipped so my two Defenders are heading my way. Man I love the Defender graphic on the Semroc website. THAT ROCKET IS SO COOL! All other projects are officially on hold as of the day it hits my mailbox.

(Do I sound excited?)

:D

Steve, glad you are excited but I just noticed you thought your order was shipped. It's ready to ship along with the other orders we have received after 5pm today.

Sheryl

EchoVictor 03-06-2007 08:41 PM

I normally don't like to question people's motives on their own business/etc., but.....

Is this guy just buying Semroc parts and then re-packaging trying to make a quick buck?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ROCKETPAD-KITS-...1QQcmdZViewItem

Hmmmm, I think I'd much rather have the 'original' from Carl and Sheryl for seven bucks less, and get the phenomenal Semroc service to boot.

The timing seems specious at best....

Later,
EV

He's had those for a few years. They're not true clones since he doesn't use BT-52 tubes.

Ok. Thanks Sheryl. I saw the email with the stamps.com link showing shipped but then the email that immediately followed that one showed ready to ship.

(I'm still excited!)

First time I've seen the SPEV. I've got a couple of his kits. They're fine for a guy like me who just builds them to look close. ;)

foose4string 03-06-2007 09:36 PM

Just put my order in for a Defender. That's one cool looking rocket I tell ya, and clustered. It's gonna be a fun one! You don't know how hard it was to resist the urge to add a Mars Lander to the order! But I already have too many other other time consuming kits piling up that I haven't even touched yet. I need to get busy!!!

sandman 03-06-2007 09:55 PM

My email says my order has been shipped...tomorrow...

Does Carl have a flux capacitor in his shipping department???

Carl has all kinds of top secret equipment in his shop. How do you think he creates all these wonderful, quality kits for reasonable prices? :D

They should be consumed separately.
