Some good news from Excelsior!

OK, let's not despair any more.

I am looking into alternative printing techniques.

Production runs are out of the question cost wise and some of the alternate printers are just too expensive.

My gosh what would I do with 10,000 Goblin decals?

I am looking seriously at some possible inkjet or laser jet methods of duplicating decals.

Papillon paper out of Texas has some possibilities including whole body tube wraps.

I WILL find a use for my decal files!

I'm not shutting down...I'm regrouping. ;)

While that's good you're looking in to other printing methods, I'd still keep watching eBay for Alps printers. InkJet/Laser can't do white or metallic.

Kurt has at least one Alps printer. Maybe by waving some dineros under his nose he could be talked into parting with it.

I think JimZ had one. Maybe he'd part with it. I don't know how active Tom is with Tango Papa anymore. Maybe he'd sell his.

If you feel that way sell me exclusive rights to your files, let me do the production runs and we will have an agreement going forward. You have to ship the $hit!

OK, nobody panic.

My web site has a small glitch I can't seem to fix.

It does not automatically reduce my inventory!

No big deal when I was printing, I just print more.

So I have to manually adjust my inventory at every sale.

Yea, I know PIA!

I can't stay up all night to monitor it, so.

The only thing I could think of was to just turn off the lights and close the door for the night.

I'll open again in the morning.

Hooray for Gordy!

I'm glad you are looking into alternative printing methods.

I flew a few Fliskits birds a week ago, all of which had decals that were laser printed. The decals looked great. Now, none of them were metallic or white-backed, but they were designed that way.

Remember... your artistry is your biggest deliverable!

While I am looking for an upgrade to an ink jet or laser jet printer, (probably a laser jet), for the every day stuff I managed to procure another operational Alps printer from Tim Van Milligan at Apogee.

Thanks a whole bunch to Tim.
This guy is a class act all around.

While I will be printing I will only list the decals I have pre printed, not everything will be available.

I will be printing the most popular and most asked for decals, I won't be printing everything just yet.

Keep checking my web site or email me at

Just as an aside, this fellow has a Kickstarter running to buy a Laser decal printer. Maybe as a community we could crowd fund a printer for Gord. I simply can't imagine a rocket hobby without classic decals.

Interesting about the kickstarter campaign. The "Fallout Hobbies" campaign had a goal of $6000, so presumably the printer costs in that neighborhood.

I wasn't aware there was a printer (laser or otherwise) that could do the CMY[W] white printing with color.

Anybody know what printer this is?

Glad you're back in business for now, Gordy. Are you looking to use a laser for most printing, and keeping an Alps only when needed for white & foil?

The white & foil stuff I've ordered from you has been great - Centuri Stiletto, Citation Patriot, Pershing, etc. The laser printed decals I've worked with just don't seem to go on as well as the Alps, for whatever reason. I've had some success with InkJets, but depending on the printer and/or paper, the inks may run when trying to add a protective layer (usually with Micro-Scale decal film).

Anyhow, I hope you're able to figure out a way to keep the business running!
