Vashon/Estes XS-1 and Shrike Question

There are currently two ebay auctions of these two models. I have never seen an XS-1 in person but from the 1973 Estes catalog photos, these were different shapes. The two on ebay (both of which are shrinkwrapped and appear to have the original stickers) look identical in shape. Does anyone know enough about these to say why?

So the XS-1 currently on Ebay looks like a Shrike in sheeps clothing, note it does not fit the box properly as well.
Here is the correct XS-1

Interesting. I never saw an XS-1 before. I had a Shrike as a kid (used half the freon freezing nightcrawlers, heh) and have a sealed one in my collection.

Unfortunately my Shrike is buried somewhere in the mess in the basement.

Well, if you ever come across it, please measure it . . .
