I like your Interceptor paint scheme in the background. I did one in two-tone gray as well. I've used that color combo on a couple of rockets with bright decals and it always turns out looking great. Just not that easy to see when flying on overcast days. :-) |

Thanks Buzz! This was maybe the first decaled model I painted with flat paint — simply because I like the Testors aircraft grays, and the are all flat. :) I did a gloss clear coat, applied the decals (those E decals were a bear to get to release!), the did a matte clear coat to restore the flat finish. Here is close-up of the nose cone. |
Super job, Lee! Well done!

Thanks John. I bought a bunch of the re-released Interceptors (standard and E) 10+ years ago. I was on “rocketry hiatus” when the Interceptor was first available, and got a little carried away buying (8 of each). :) I will do a standard model in white sometime. My next will be using one of the wraps I got from John Pursley, rest his soul. |

"never could get enough to get it to tumble"
Now you know why Vern never produced this as a kit and moved on to the K-1 Scout as Estes's first kit. I test flew prototypes with lead and brass plates on the back of the fins with poor recovery results. John Boren |
The new kit would be a good candidate for a U.S. Space FARCE decal.
Was glad to the U.S.S.F. has adopted the standard USAF ranking system except for the first 4 enlisted ranks. Would have been ridiculous to use USN ranks for a branch of the USAF. I still think it is an unneeded nuisance to split part of the USAF into another sub-branch. |

They should have had me test them. I'm an expert with poor recovery results. :D |

Been there, done that (all too often). Have the t-shirt with appropriate ridicule boldly proclaiming my lack of skills. :-) |
If you want to guarantee poor recovery, do a PMC.
90% of those feature trash bag-'n-broom recovery, and gleefully they POWR-PRANGG. A B8/B14 possibly could remedy this as most crash due to lack of thrust, not instability. The Quest composite C/D motors would also work. |
