I took the files to my local public library, which offered 3D printing for an incidental cost.

I got the following results, which I wasn't exactly happy with, but it was an experiment anyway. :eek: :confused:

Should the resulting product be this rough? Would I need to adjust the settings in the printer, or would I have to tweak the file to get a much smoother (i.e., useable) 3D printout? Please advise. Thanks!

Jay: If you know how to tweek the settings on a slicer then you can create the GCODE files for the nose cones. Take the files to the library and have them use your GCODE files to do the printing.

I had similar issues with my printer as I was using the program it came with it to do my prints, CURA v15.04, plus I had my computer directly connected to the printer handling the printing process. I disconnected the printer from the computer then I installed the latest version of Ultimaker Cura. I change the printing settings to create a higher resolution print then have the app create the GCODE file. Download it into a memory card and plug the card directly into the printer letting the Arduino computer in the printer manage the printing. My prints have been much better since I made those changes.

Yeah that printer is either way out of adjustment, or very low quality. It almost looks as though the build plate is loose on the printer and wiggling a little bit. My bet by looking at the prints is he is running with loose x and y belts. You can easily expect better results from even a low-end new printer.
