Astron Interceptor Drag Race!
3 Attachment(s)
We finally had almost no wind at last months launch, so I got to fly some vintage. Rick & I got to do our planed all Original Interceptor drag race. Thought your guys would like to see three on the pad at the same time. Think back to when you saw something like this. Think we'll do four in in the future, as one of the other guys has one too.
Cheers, Bruce |
YEAH, BABY! Nice, Bruce. I think the Interceptor on the left in the launch shot has just pulled what we call a hole-shot. ;)
 |
A look at three classics for the price of one! Sweet! :D
|
Ok, now THAT was sweet! :) Probably the only time in history that 3 of those babies were seen together, let alone *flown* together!
Makes me want to get mine out and refurbished! |
Oh wow, as long as I've been in the sport, I've never flown anything like that before, they fly nice? I think I have to get one now.

"Ye Old Rocket Forum" is primarily home to what are known as BARs (Born Again Rocketeers). If you check the average age of the members who have given a birthdate, you'll find we're all mostly late 30's to early 50's. Although you will find a lot of interest in design here as in Craig's ubersized "Scrounged Up Designs" thread, a big part of what we do is build or clone (reproduce with currently available parts) old production kits from when we were closer to your age. This is what we BARs often refer to as the "Golden Age of Rocketry". There really wasn't much in the way of High Power then and Mid Power was just kind of getting started. Look through all the old Centuri and Estes catalog pages on Sven's Ninfinger site and you'll see a lot of designs just as unusual and interesting as the Interceptor! |
:D Yeah, those guys in thier 50's are as old as dirt too.

LMAO! Well, other cool things I did get in the air: Space Shuttle Mini(note to self, never use quest motors agian!), Big Bertha, Super Vega, Derfender D, and a 1284 Shuttle. It was a great flight, and yes I had the glider trimed correctly for once! It flew down very nicely with out a nose cone dent.............Grins. Pics below.
Cheers, Bruce |
One more!
