Walmart also carries a stainless line of swivels with ball bearing, and the safety “hook” to prevent pullout. They are not cheap, you get 2-3 depending on size, for $1.79. I have never had a failure using them.

UPDATE:
Here is a picture of the largest size my store carries. Overall length is 1-1/2” (40 mm for the Imperial-challenged). :p

Thanks for the info!

I prefer the ones that are heavier duty with a little hook on the end of the wire. This usually will keep it from stripping out under load.

Good to know. I think I'll get the ones from the Kite Store going forward.

For the "ultimate" in strength, security, and "snag-resistance", get swivels with "McMahon-style" snaps".

You can buy the snaps by themselves and swap them out on swivels you already have !

On eBay, search for "Hawaiian Snaps" in the Fishing section of Sporting Goods.
