Estes Interceptor D
I put a 24 mm mount in the 1250 Estes Interceptor; also put in a baffle and used a through-the-body-tube to the motor mount fin attachment for the back fins. Replaced the stock shock mount with kevlar tied to the baffle and 1/4" sewing elastic. Decals are a mix-and-match from various century-series fighters, plus the kit decals. Flies great!

Nice! I started my "E" version awhile back, and painted the pods yellow like yours, deciding to do something a little different. I like the silver color, too -- nice alternatives to standard colors.
How about a nose shot? I'd like to see the front end treatment in more detail.

Here are some pics of the nose. It's gotten a bit scuffed, I'm afraid. Rather than use the kit decals for the windows, I painted the canopy black, then cut masks to size for the windows, and sprayed silver and then (after some additional masking) yellow. So the canopy windows track the kit's scribing. If I was going for a really realistic look, I'd do an anti-glare strip, but I never quite got there. |

Thanks! The interceptor was one of my favorite rockets as a kid. It's fun to revisit it as a BAR -- Estes' timing on the re-release was excellent.
The natural metal finish is Alclad II, which is pretty amazing stuff. |
