Default Intruder Custom

Finally, I finished my modified Quest Intruder. I started this project way back in the summer. The assembly wasn't all that difficult but the finishing was a royal pain. The gap between the fins and the wings was small, and I had to use a Popsicle stick with sandpaper glued on it to sand near the root. The decals were the worst. I borrowed the decals from several kits, mainly the Interceptor II, and modified them to fit the Intruder. Sadly, I lost the decal file when I tried to modify it for another project. Thankfully, I printed the decals beforehand and was able to finish it. Here's a few pics courtesy of tbzep.

That model turned out nice, Intruder. Seeing so many decals on one bird hurts my fingers...

How long have you been building these showpieces?

That is his first "complex" build. He's built a Quest Harpoon and his scratch HARM which have multiple fins, and he worked up the decals on the HARM. His other builds have been pretty much 3FNC. I did enjoy watching him sweat it out with the peel-n-cuss decals on his Mercury Redstone, though. That's pretty much what made him decide to make decals for the Intruder.

So is that the Export model of the "Interceptor"?

Like is that the version the U.S. sells to Turkey or Egypt?

Very nice!

No, it's more like the F-16. It gets stuck with Wild Weasel duty and other odd jobs will its bigger brother, the interceptor, gets to have all the fun dominating the enemy's birds.

Yeah. It took me several hours to get it all on the rocket. It was worth every second though.

That is very nice adaptation of the Intruder, and a top-notch finishing job. Cool engine flame too. Your papa should be proud!

Thanks Guys,

I have an Intruder kit and I was wondering if anyone ever converted it into an
Interceptor Jr. or a Mni-Me
