The D12 already has a bit of a core. I'm not sure how deep the core would have to be on a high thrust D, but definitely more than the D12. If it's more than a pintle could reliably provide, it won't happen. We're basically looking at a super sized B14.

A high-thrust D might have to have an "E" sized casing; I think this was the case (ahem) in the never-produced-in-quantity E48 (38?).
High thrust D might be closer in design to the B8 than the B14. Molded rather than drilled.

That E48 (38?) would have been the most useful new Estes motor in decades.
Naturally they chose to not produce it....????

That's my point. The D12 is already slightly cored using a pintle (molded), like the B8. Go much deeper with a pintle and you end up dealing with pintle reliability (erosion, breakage). I don't think there will ever be another Estes BP motor with a drilled core. I hope I'm wrong.

The corollary is that the number of participants on this board, TRF participants, and all NAR and TRA members combined make up only a very small % of all Estes consumers. Much of what is asked for (demanded?) in this thread are also "niche" engines.

Most definitely. The average box store consumer won't know the difference between a C5 and a C6. In fact, they may think of the C6 as more powerful because it has a bigger number. However, it would be nice for Estes to set aside a day or two out of the year to run one batch of B8's, D20's or whatever niche motors they choose. They can do a year's worth or more of of a single niche motor in 1/2 a day on one machine, so they could knock out several varieties in one or two days. It probably wouldn't help their bottom line, but if it helps keep an experienced niche motor user interested enough to start or maintain a club, those niche folks might keep a few "one and done" type folks in the hobby. Maybe Estes would benefit in the long run. I'm good at grasping for straws.

Call the C5 the "C8" instead. That would fit in with the "bigger is better" dullards.
NAR allows for "fudging" a bit on the average thrust number.
