Default A rare one.

This was parked in front of a car repair near my office in Cleveland. Seeing a regular "fish bowl" is uncommon enough--but an AMC Pacer station wagon? I've probably seen only 3 of them since the year of it's release (1976?)

I was driving around out in the sticks a few years ago and found a Pacer X for sale by the side of the road. Looked like it was in pretty good shape. My first car was supposed to be a Hornet. I'd love to have a Hornet SC/360, just to be different.

Pacer and Gremlin.... both could be considered "so ugly they're cute" if the proper beverages have been consumed.

Might be rare, but still a worthless POS, just like ALL Gremlins and Pacers.
That thing couldn't "pace" a horse race.

I knew guy, years ago, said the Pacer was fun to drive but he was embarrassed to be seen in it.

Yup, AMC had some "oddballs" back in the 70's. Gremlin, Pacer, Hornet, Matador, Javelin, etc. The only AMC product I've ever owned was a Jeep CJ7.

Man. Just had a flashback.

Early 70s? Whenever it was when the Pacer was brand new.

I was walking by the high school parking lot when I saw a guy flying an RC plane. This was a really rare thing and I ran over to watch. I lived in a sort of upper-middle class (and some filthy rich) area and grown-up guys didn't have hobbies, they played golf and tennis and went skiing.

The guy was friendly and answered a few questions. And WOW he had a Pacer, which looked like a futuristic bubble-topped car out of a sci-fi movie.

When he loaded up his plane when he was done flying I saw that most of the bed was full of boxes of diapers. I realized that he probably was enjoying a few minutes of freedom with his old passtime before heading back to a house with a screaming baby.

Funny, how what seemed like a futuristic car now looks utterly ludicrous.
