...Is an NCRBE Big Brute.

This model will be a replacement for the one I lost at NSL 2017.

In order to get the correct color paint for the body I had to buy a case of Krylon Pewter Grey.

I guess I'll have quite a few future rockets painted Pewter Grey.

Default Done

Another "It's taking longer than I expected" model is completed.

True, it didn't take 26 years but it should have been finished in two weeks instead of four.

Here is my new NCRBE Big Brute model painted with Krylon Pewter Grey as was the actual photo model.

My only change to the kit was replacing the kit motor retainer with one of the newer Estes 29mm motor retainers (Thank you John Boren).

The original kit motor retainer would only work with NCRBE F62/G70 DarkStar motors.
The newer motor retainer will work with AeroTech motors.

Again, first flight at NARAM-60. Perhaps I will finally get to fly an AeroTech G75 Metalstorm motor with this model.

What did you fly it on that you lost it? It's kind of a big clunky rocket - at least mine is. IMHO a G125-5 is the best motor for the Big Brute.

The Krylon Interior-Exterior acrylic lacquer paint I loved in the 90s is available in cases online, rebranded by Krylon as Acryli-Quik. (Maybe what you bought?) And John Boren likes Krylon Tough Coat Sandable Primer, also online only, meaning you essentially want to buy it by the case to get free shipping. We should all bring some of these paints for trading at NSL.

Maybe 'lost' isn't the right word or phrase...

Here's a picture of my Big Brute at NSL 2017 awaiting launch on an AeroTech G142-6 motor.

It sat out in the sun for 20-30 minutes before launching.

At ignition that model really got moving!

I was surprised that I was able to get a picture.

There are other ways to check soil compaction.

Dang, first flight crashes hurt worst.
