Default SPEV project

I was lucky to obtain a box of stuff from my youth. Mixed in it was rocket instructions that I saved back in the day.

I wanted to build another SPEV so armed with knowledge of part source links I found here ,the adventure has begun. Of course after I started a search for decals I found out Simroc offers a clone. The fins and tail support patterns I found on Jim Z site. I had to enlarge the pattern to size on my monitor and trace them as I have no printer. Transitions and nose cone from BMI, upper ST-10 tube from E-Rockets.

Progress so far

There is no ST-10 tubing in an Estes SPEV. The ST-10 was a Centuri part.
The list of body tubes you can see in your first photo.

Not even the Centuri Excalibur and Nike Smoke kits used ST-10 tubing.

EDIT: BT-52S confirmed. Also used in the Estes Thor Agena kit.

They are so close in diameter:

ST-10 = 1.04 O.D.
BT-52 = 1.014 O.D.

The information above is from the Semroc site:

I am well aware that the kit did not come with ST-10 tubing but with my limited knowledge of vendors no BT-52 could be found. If anyone knows of a source of BT-52 feel free to post a link.

Estes designed SPEV as a limited edition bonus kit to drawn down the unique parts used in the discontinued semi0scale Saturn V and the Thor-Agena B. SPEV stood for Spare Parts Elimination Vehicle.

You got the Thor-Agena B correct, but the bottom tube came from the K-29 Little Joe II kit. The lower transition (TA-6070) was a stock part available from late 1968 until 1994. The BT-60 tube came from the Mars Lander kit. If you really want to blow someone's mind, use a TA-5260A, BT-52AG, and BNC-52AG from the K-39 Semi Scale Saturn V instead of the Thor-Agena parts.

Both the K-28 Thor-Agena B and the K-29 Little Joe II were last in the second 1971 catalog. The Semi Scale Saturn V last appeared in the 1979 Catalog. The Estes SPEV was only offered in a few 1972 Model Rocket News issues.

My bad. I forgot it was the Little Joe II unique parts Estes wanted to clear out. Thanks for clarifying. It's been a while.
