Well, gosh, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later: I share an adolescent activity spot on with GH!

Man, talk about some fun that was! Some cans held on longer than others before blowing and we'd see who would stand by the fire the longest before scurrying for cover. I recall one particularly violent event when we ran out of any available cans of leftover 'whatever' and one fellow culprit ran next door to his house and grabbed a FULL can of spray laquer and we tossed it in strategically deep at the base of the (essentially) bonfire in our friend's backyard.

When the can blew, it tossed the entire bonfire contents, logs and all, straight up in the air with a tremendous blast. We talked about that one for weeks! Lord was watchin' over us in our youthful ignorance, no doubt.

Almost as much fun was shooting arrows straight up in the air in the same friend's backyard and seeing who'd be the last one to run for cover under the eves of his house. We buried three-four arrows 4-5 inches deep in his folks roof as they free-fell from who knows how high. The arrows would disappear from sight seconds after leaving the bow, and one had NO idea where they might land.

I guess we'd probably go to jail for such as that these days for endangering the entire block.

I reload all my centerfire cartridges. Ammo prices 10 years ago for anything but 223/5.56mm were ignorant. Now they are downright jackassed. I never used to reload 223/5.56 when I used to buy it for $2.99/20 rds of military ball ammo. I reload that now for about $1.50/20rds. It used to be I paid less for TRACERS in 5.56 than the going rate of $10.99/box for ball 5.56 now.
I can reload for anywhere from 5 to 15 cents on the dollar compared to the insane prices of factory ammo now. When I bought my 458 Lott, factory Hornady 458 Lott was $80.00 for 20 rds, with 458 Win Mag about $35.00. Those two rds. Are up to $130.00 and $60.00/box 20 rds respectively. I can load a box of 458 Lott using fired brass for about $10/box using JACKETED soft-point 350 to 500 grain bullets. Using cast lead bullets is even less.
Prices for factory ammo are an insane RIP-OFF. They always were ridiculous, now they are insane.

Some believe, the reason for the high prices is due to inane alphabet gubmint agencies with no reason to due so, buying vast quantities of ammo. A type of gun control on the back end. The problem is that it could if not already adversely affect the price of black powder motors.

Yes "they" ordered a lot of ammo. But what's driving the cost up is consumer demand. And what is driving up consumer demand is panic, speculation, and hoarding. In my town guys used to meet the Walmart truck at the dock at 4 AM to buy everything that came off the truck. It was happening everywhere. Walmart had to set purchase limits to let other customers get a chance to buy ammo. Prices charged at the gun shows were out of this world ridiculous. Things seem to be stabilizing, but the price is still sky high. $0.50 to $0.55 a round for 5.56 or .45 ball ammo is what people pay these days, and pay they do. Components for reloading are affected too.

This ammo situation has absolutely ZERO impact on black powder motors. Modern ammuntion has nothing to do with black powder. Ammuntion uses smokeless propellant that is either single-base using Nitrocellulose, or double-base using Nitroglycerine/Nitrocellulose for propellant.

I "repurposed" it. The can is garbage, but I wanted a pic of the snot bubble first. Maybe I should shoot it with some of the green I used on the Franken-Goblin.

That is like someone sending up a minimum diameter Blue Thunder and hearing the voice on the PA say, "Does anyone see that rocket? <pause> Does anybody see that rocket? <another pause> I guess it either deployed or it is already down."

In their youth my sons would have friends over to sit around the fire pit and do what fifteen year olds do. One of those was to take the small 4 oz. cans of Axe deodorant and toss them on the fire. The result sounded like a mortar round going off and a plume of flame rising above the pit. Since our bedroom is above the patio and fire pit it made for some spectacular light shows. So yes, cry havoc and let slip the dogs of propellant.
