Great shots, Tim! Nice SPEV. I have it on good authority that in 2007 "REAL" SPEV clones will be able to be made. Someone most of us know is going to be selling a certain "tube" that up till now no one has sold besides Estes.

Thumbs up Photos

Really spectacular photos. Every one told a "story." It is great to see your children participating and enjoying the hobby/sport. Beautifully built models!

WOW! Those pics are killers. Fourteen new pics to my screen saver.
What's the story on the blue visor with the white "H"? Roun' these parts, that means "HIGHLANDS". I've got a baseball cap that could be the visors big brother.

I coached our high school softball team for the last 8 years. That's an extra visor I had left over. H stands for Huntingdon.

Nikon D-80 with an 18-135mm Nikkor lens. I used the auto-sport setting, but it just wasn't fast enough to get crisp liftoff shots.

I've now got it set to automatically adjust the ISO in order to get the correct exposure in shutter priority mode, so I can set the shutter speed somewhere above 1/1000.

I especially got a kick out of the Screamin' Eagle mishap -- I had that very problem, with that very model, with that very launch pad (it came as part of a Centuri outfit with the S.E. model, the yellow battery-top pad, and the Excalibur model) in 1984 or so. Tube plowed into the ground and came up with two inches of rammed earth plugged in there.

Good times.

Are these cloned models, or originals? They're immaculate!

The Screamin' Eagle is original except for the chute. The EAC viper is a rebuild using the original nosecone and purple chute, not quite a clone. The Lil Herc is a Semroc kit that I did in Centuri colors, and the Snipe Hunter is Semroc also. The Citation Patriot and SPEV are clones. The Big Bertha is the modern kit with a 1969 catalog paint scheme. I turned the balsa parts on the SPEV and made the decals on all the clones/rebuilds except the Citation Patriot.
