Any specific acronyms? YORF, obviously, means "Ye Olde Rocket Forum", while TRF means "The Rocketry Forum"...

Any in particular? IMHO, I think they are all self explanatory. ITMT, we'll wait your reply. FWIW, some are just made up. OTOH, some aren't.

It lets you know if they're online or not.

I should add that if the user has invisible mode turned on that the dot stays grey for other users "hiding" the fact that the person is online. The moderators can see you though due to the dot being red on our end.
