Default From The Heart

My job in India is finished and I'm back home--safe and sound--and on vacation until 5-12.

I've been to southern India many times, but never for quite this long. "Chief" will probably concur that we submariners can and will get used to almost anything. Not THIS. Not India. The intensity of the heat, squalor, danger, pollution, poverty, overcrowding, and the "stank" is just too much to get accustomed to. Perhaps if I were younger........................................... ....

Anyway, I want to thank ALL of you. ALL of my YORF brothers and sisters that have followed and that have responded to my "Back to India" thread/blog. I especially want to thank the webmaster for making the foreign IP usable--otherwise this thread would not have been possible. Scott, you're a beauty!

The forum has been one of the few things I had to look forward to after working 12+ hours a day--nearly every day--for the past two months in this "Heart of Darkness" (the horror, the horror)

Again, thank you all!!

VR, Jeffrey Smith

Glad you made it back home.
You could not pay me enough (sort of retirement for life for a 1 month stint) to go to that armpit/cesspool of the world.

You should try Mumbai. Or better try Goa in Januaey. There is more money in Mumbai than in New York. Still a lot of abject poverty, but as western as you like. Fashionable twenty-somethings trying to.impress each other.

Smile Welcome back

Jeff welcome back to the good old USA. I understand about how submariners get used to things. Also I understand about the not getting used to it. There were some places in the Phillipines I did not go due to the same type of squalor. So did Mary make you keep your suitcase outside due to the inherent stink things pick up when they are around stink? Teresa made me keep my seabag out in the garage after the first run, it smelled bad to her LOL . ANyway thanks again for the awsome thread and to the webmaster who made it possible. Gotta love technology. Now you can post one of your awsome build threads. Later Chief
