Default Estes EPM-010

Anyone built one of these? It is an interesting model with the forward sweep and the fin tip pods, plus the length of the model at close to 36". Ferrari red?

I started one, but had to set it aside until I could get some extra BT-50. The coupler for the main tubes needs to either be replaced with one of Carl's JT-50C couplers, or it needs to be sanded heavily to reduce the OD. The fit was extremely tight even when it was dry; when I applied glue, it grabbed almost immediately and caused one of the tubes to crimp along the spiral.

These BT-50's also seem to be quite thin-walled, compared to earlier releases. You might consider substituting some of Carl's stock for these as well...

Not sure if it is a production run issue but the coupler was not a problem. I also press the joint under a weight to let gravity carry the final thou together. Definitely a thin tube though.

If you like it, buy it fast. "EPM" is the current-day version of "SPEV."

John did a fine job of it. It looks like something the Thunderbirds gang would ride.

Interestingly enough I had thought about plastic card vanes on the reduction. Don't think I would do the TB-3 booms and sub fins though.

I built this one last month:

A refreshing challenge!

I recommend you paint the little plastic NC's seperately and then glue them in after the body and fins are painted (the forward pointing ones, anyway.)

How about British Racing Green with a yellow stripe?

Anyone put together a RockSim file for this beauty? I'm thinking it's a good candidate for upscaling...

Definitely one of the new Estes kits that I want to tackle.
Question: The paint jars in the plastic drawer rack are upside-down... is this a modeler trick I've missed? I've never had a big-time workshop to have the need to enact a lot of arcana, hence my ignorance...
