Smile Vintage Yankee 5 Build

Opened an Estes Yankee 5 Coldpower Flight Kit

Here are the contents of the main bag:

If I get it done in time I'll have it with me at the upcoming Freedom Launch event

If anyone wants to clone this kit then just hope over to my website to download the instructions, fin stock and decal.

Very cool, Leo! Please get a video of the launch when it comes to that time.

Maybe GH should fly out there for the launch so he can be there as you help to "destroy" the ozone layer.

Question (for Leo or anyone else): It looks like a cold power kit consisted largely of a conventional balsa/paper model rocket with the key differences being in the cold power motor (sort of equivalent to today's reloadable motor case) and the spring ejection unit. I've circled those in the pic.

But what's the other circled item? Is that part of the ejection system too? How's it work?

I think that's the launch trigger/release unit. Leo's kit was a complete "starter set" package.

Ah! That makes sense. The motor case would be too expensive to include with every kit.

Payload section has been assembled with nose cone, nose block and screw eye glued in place.

Nose cone was sanded down and 2 coats of sanding sealer have also been applied.

This part is now ready for one coat of primer.
