Default 1976 Centuri BP engines

I have 4 Centuri C6-3 engines with the igniters and the recovery wadding paper still sealed in their original plastic bag. Batch number 28 F 6. They came with the 1976 Centuri Space 1999 launch set and Eagle Rocket Set I recently acquired on Ebay. Not really sure if I should use them due to their age. They appear completely intact, no dings indicating shock damage to BP cores. What might if anything would they be worth or should I hand them over to the local fire Department for disposal?

Thanks,

Don't dispose of them, there are plenty of collectors who will take them off your hands. Are they usable? maybe - if they have not been heat cycled and stored in low humidity they can be fine.

They're probably fine............I regularly use engines from the early seventies. You could always static test fire one out in your backyard.

Just put one into an almost ready to fly Estes rocket, the kind you don't care if you lose. If that one works, have fun with the rest.

Save them, or static test one. If needed, I can pick them up to recycle them for you, since I routinely drive down to Denver to see kids and grandchild. I offer this service for free to YORF members in Colorado.

Bring the motors to NARAM-52 and fly them.

You CAN do that if...

You fly them as part of the NAR's Expired Motor Flight Testing program.

That's what I will be doing with some of my rockets at NARAM. Cox, Centuri, MPC, MRC, NCR, etc. motors will be flown!

Ahhh, Cox D8-0 booster in a two stage rocket...

If they haven't been thermal-cycled, they'll work fine. I burned a couple of dozen 1974-vintage Centuri A4-4M motors in as many flights in 1999 or 2000, and they all worked perfectly, as did their Sure-Shot igniters!

Yeah, recycle them. That's the ticket. I offer the same service for B-14's. I offer to recycle them for anyone that has any. Yeah...

That Cox D8-0 booster in a 2-stage rocket will be cool.
Be even cooler in a 3-stage Farside in a full-stack of D8-0, D8-0, C6-7 or B14-0, D8-0, C6-7
Until I started flying Aerotech 18mm D's, nothing beat the old Cox D8-3 in my Mars Lander and Space Shuttle rockets.
