Quest AS-1 Escort Build
I've started the Quest AS-1 Escort build on my blog at:
http://modelrocketbuilding.blogspot...rt-1-parts.html I know JeffyJeep had built one and there were kit concerns. Get ready, this is going to be a bumpy ride! The picture below is from the Quest website.

Bumpy is right! Here's the one I built last year. I cut the yellow lightning bolt out of adhesive film because the decals are so transparent that they were nearly invisible when applied over a black surface. I don't know if Quest has corrected this or not.
Mitering the BT's was major bee-yotch on these small tubes. I don't think I care to build another one.

Thank you. If you build it's mothership, the Aerospace One, I suggest you put the presidential seal over a white backing or it will dissapear into the blue. The decals are pressure-sensitive and VERY transparent.
Also, the transparent (ish) blue of the decals is nearly impossible to match to a blue paint for the nose cone. I got it close, but not perfect. If I build another one, I might do ALL of the blue parts in paint so they'll match.

I have this kit.

Hey Chris, I have this kit, I thought it looked too small too. Needs to be enlarged. Check your blog dates, there is some fat fingering, like 2101? I don't think were there yet! |

Yes, the AS-1 is quite dinky--but BIG on swears!

Thanks! I'm not a great typist. Correction has been made. You'd think all those years of accordion lessons would give me a typing edge - but no!

Well - just okay. It flew this morning with a Quest A6-4, the recommended first flight engine. After it cleared the rod it veered to the west at a 45 degree angle. The four second delay was too long and it was nosing in when the parachute ejected. Not a great flight, but a flight just the same. It think it needs a little nose weight and at least a B engine in it. It does look good though!

I take it those forward wing/fins make it turn into the wind like a Colonial Viper?
