Semrock Saturn 1b {shrouds}
To anyone who has built the Semroc Saturn 1b, I'd really like to know what's up with the material these shrouds & fins are printed on. One side is glossy and the paper is really thin. Personally I don't like the paper being this thin and when I did a pre-fit on the lower stuffer tube shroud, it seemed a little larger than it should be. Since the final stages of this build will be all about priming and painting, I don't get the reasoning behind that glossy finish on the paper items. Fortunately I printed extras on some 65# card stock before I cut the originals and I might go with those instead. Anyone want to share their experience with this?

2008 Luncheon Centerpiece
Keep in mind, SEMROC was trying to duplicate the Gene Street version that Estes produced back in the 60's, warts and all. There was no major attempt to improve the design other than getting it back in production...
Here are photos of my build from 2008. I didn't find the kit shrouds to be terribly difficult. Not terribly easy, mind you, just not terribly difficult. There were other aspects of this build that were far more troublesome...

This is a lightweight calendared stock. Not sure on terms if there you had problems but never overlap the shroud edges. Cut them flush and then back them with the old overlap. Also cut the upper and lower end of the backer to a point to reduce the added thickness where the shroud meets tubes.
