I'm putting the finishing touches on a Semroc Starlight (production #0022.) The question is: did the Estes Starlight EVER have decals on it? I can't seem to find a photo of one with decals on it.

I'm pretty sure there was never a Starlight decal.

Agreed - no decals. They did have 2 color schemes
white and red
blue and silver

I've built only the white/red color scheme in the past. I think I prefer the blue/silver variant.

The original did not have decals and as Les has indicated above it had two color schemes . One theme is 2 coats white primer, 2 coats silver and 2 light coats of transparent blue. I have also seen it painted in white primer ,white and red. Red rings, red nose cone and red fin edges . Not sure if that was one of the original colors but it looked sharp. My Starlight is the transparent blue and silver color .

WOW! That is a fine looking rocket! Definitely going in the build queue for me.

As a kid, I disliked the Starlight as it didn't look like a "real" rocket to me. I still have the same problem (about what constitutes a rocket I'm willing to build), but to a much lesser and more specific degree.

The Starlight doesn't fall into that catagory any more. Now, I think it's a pretty cool rocket and snagged one when Semroc reintroduced them. I now consider it one of those "must have," classics.

Transparent blue over silver, eh? I was wondering what that blue was.

Foamy, the blue for the Starlight is called Transparent Blue. It is a Testors product.
Spray can information is #1257 Glossy transparent blue. I used the Spray can #1246 Gloss Metallic silver for the silver coats.

Ooh, a necro-thread!
I finally got around to finishing my Starlight last weekend and it occurred to me that I couldn't find the decal. I tore up the shop looking for it. Now I know why I couldn't find it.
I went a bit rogue on the paint scheme, but I went off the rails on the construction, so WTH. Mine is a mirror of the Taurus in black, white, silver and orange. I had a paint issue with the black, so there's been some extra sanding, but it should be ready to fly in color the next time I get to fly.
