Default ~$1,000 satellites! (links)

Hello All,

The ~$1,000-to-launch satellite (which costs only a few hundred dollars to build) has now arrived! Arizona State University's School of Earth and Space Exploration has developed a new, tiny (FemtoSat) satellite standard that is a small cousin to the 10 cm CubeSat--the 3 cm SunCube FemtoSat. (Dedicated miniature launch vehicles for such 35-gram FemtoSats would be interesting to contemplate...) Here (see: http://www.spacedaily.com/reports/T...mall _999.html and https://sese.asu.edu/about/news/article/1664 ) are links to articles about these minute spacecraft, which can be "stacked" in multiple units just like CubeSats (a "3U SunCube" is shown in the articles, along with a 1U version) and can even have onboard propulsion systems.
