Vintage Trident II build
As the first coats of Aerogloss are hardening on the Farside, I'm going to begin the next kit in the pile: an Estes Trident II, #2033.
This was an Ebay steal a few years ago, but the kit was in rather poor condition in that all of the balsa was separated and all but one of the BT's was crushed (no big problem.) The good news is that all (7) of the NC's, decal sheet, and the card stock pieces are good shape. The separated balsa pieces are undamaged and because of the contours of the fins and the fact that they're 3/32" I'm not going to do them in basswood. I've already replaced all of the crushed BT's. Perhaps I can put a dent in this before I head to Crystal River, FL on a job on Monday. TBC

Lots of balsa there! As I understand it nowadays, the rising balsa prices have made kits like this prohibitively expensive to produce. Doug . http://forums.rocketshoppe.com/atta...achmentid=32638 .

Yes, that's the one. It's the twin-boom "Bident". I thought about cloning it once, but I had to be revived when I added up how much just the cones would have cost. TBC

This is going back a ways.
Here's Vern with my Trident from NARAM 43. Completely scratchbuilt. All the nose cones...obviously and the decals were from JimZ. Does anybody remember who the RCO was for most of that NARAM sport weekend?

Trident VII? I don't get it.
Anyway, I built this Semroc Original Type Trident a couple of years ago, and I too prefer it. TBC

Now all tubes are marked and the gas port gaskets are attached. I'll let the adhesive fully harden before I cut out the ports. TBC
