Default Vintage Estes Photon Disruptor Build

My next build is the Photon Disruptor with the hard to find PNC-50X nose.

I've always liked the unique fins of the Photon Disruptor.

Here's the last one I built:

Should be fun. Look forward to seeing the build.

jeffyjeep-Nice looking build—as usual. I always enjoy seeing your finished pieces. I also like the decal substitution.

Was there ever a Photon Torpedo?

Ah, I didn't know if I was imagining it or not. Proton, yes. I do believe there may be another kit from my first time 'round lurking around somewhere as I thought I had a kit of that name that someone had given me, but don't remember building or flying it. I'll have to go a look 'in.

Thanks! I now see what you mean about the decal substitution. The vintage kit has solid black circles on the fins, the new kit has fin circles that match the body circle. Hmmmmm.

I don't know if there's been a Photon Torpedo kit--is the terminology a property of the Star Trek franchise?

However, I did build the Photon Disruptor's sibling--the Photon Probe. It has those miserable little spuce strakes to mount the subfins to, and the shade of purple on the package is practically unmatchable.

Hence:

There were two versions of the Photon Disruptor. Sigs30 is building the original smaller version. Estes released an upscale in 1991 which has the newer decal style.

Are you fix'in to build that one as well, or is it built already? I don't recall anything about the kit. Was/is it one with plastic fins?
