Looking for a controller launch button
I'm building a launch controller for our cub scout pack, and I'm trying to find an impressive-looking launch button - something big (like 2 or 3 inches in diameter) and red. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How about the pink one??

Bill; The pushbutton we used on our Club's 6-pad Command Console was manufactured by APEM, and purchased at Mouser. It's very heavy duty, is a sealed switch (so it's splash proof), and features a big red anodized aluminum mushroom head. It's worked great, and we find that we get a lot of requests to push that big red button! At the time I made the purchase a few years ago, the switch cost about $25.00; unfortunately Mouser is selling it for considerably more now. Photo following:

I've got a bunch of used industrial "E-Stop" buttons, if they will work for you. Large (2.5" dia) red anodized mushroom button, but it has "EMERG. STOP" engraved onto it. A light sanding and a coat of paint or a sticky label could correct that. Cutler/Hammer p/n10250T17213. Picture and technical data available here:
http://www.omega.com/Auto/pdf/10250T_SERIES.pdf These are usually $$$ items (note prices in above link), but I have a LOT of used ones kicking around. $10 plus shipping gets one to your door. I will throw in a used normally open contact block (10250T53), which is more useful for a launch button than the normally closed type usually used for an emergency stop circuit. Mounts in a 30.5 mm hole (1-7/32"). PM me if interested. Last edited by SCE to AUX : 04-28-2009 at 02:40 PM. |
