Default FlisKits: Cut-Away Model Rocket Motor

FlisKits is proud to announce our latest product, a 3:1 scale model of a Cut-Away Model Rocket Motor

This educational tool is designed to be used by teachers, youth group leaders or anyone who teaches rocketry and/or wants to have a good, sturdy, easy to explain tool for describing what is inside a model rocket motor and how it works.

The kit is rated as a Skill Level 2 and features laser cut parts and a whole host of available free downloads to help you with your class as well as to help you understand yourself how these little marvals work in getting your model rockets into the air!

Another feature is that the delay/ejection charge is a separate assembly so that you can configure your model to represent a booster motor to help explain multi-stage operation!

This sought after educational tool is priced at just $8.95 to help make it available to every teacher and youth group leader. Additional savings can be had when including this tool with any educational bulk pack purchase. Contact FlisKits for details!

To find out more you can visit the product page by clicking this link!

Cool! Now to create a Phantom to go along with it.

That's a great idea! Centuri offered something like that thirty-something years ago.

Have you thought about making this available to other vendors, for resale?

I love it but I've got to ask: "What is up with the centerbore and more-advanced-than-you-would-ever-see-in-a-balck-powder-motor nozzle?"

Any chance of making a normal version with normal nozzle and centerbore. I prefer that since I shown them how the burning surface expands and corresponds to the thrust time curve.

Sure, send me an example of what the real nozzle and core looks like and I will incorporate that into the updated version after we get through this batch

Jim,

Great idea and I really like Fred's suggestion.

I know the product has only been out for 15 minutes or so but I'd like to suggest taking it even one step further.

I'd make the insert just a bit smaller so it sits slightly recessed inside the casing, deep enough to hold several paper (or thin cardstock) overlays.

The outermost overlay would be of an unburned engine and the deepest overlay would show a completely burned engine. I would then have several in between showing the successive stages of burning, like Fred suggested.

The end of the overlays which sits over the clay cap could have a small flap so they could be glued in order, allowing each to be folded back to show the stages of burning, without the problem of losing the overlays from one presentation to the next.

You could do the overlays as PDFs, just like the wraps now, and it would be up to the builder if they wanted to do the "flip chart" version or the version you have now.

Really a great product idea, Jim.

And I also agree with Scott, an upscale Phantom would be another great teaching aid.

I still have my Estes Phantom among my "fleet"......

At a Cub Scout launch earlier this year, it was the most popular model anyone had ever seen
