Default Estes Eliminator XL

The Eliminator XL model is a new rocket sold in a starter set.

With that heritage Enerjet fin unit and nose cone this was a model I wanted.

It's an RTF rocket which requires only 10-15 minutes for final assembly. The Eliminator XL can be flown with D12, E9 or E12 motors (I have yet to check if AeroTech E15, E20, E30 or F35 motors will fit in the model).

Instead of a motor hook used by the standard Eliminator model, the XL version uses a twist-ring motor retention method like the one found on the Blue Ninja kit. It has a long shock cord and it looks to be a 24" diameter parachute.

I look forward to giving it a flight test soon.

Hey Bob

Sweet bird!!!!

(I have yet to check if AeroTech E15, E20, E30 or F35 motors will fit in the model).

I have a Blue Ninja the SU E20 -7W is perfect for this rocket. Really get off the pad fast and with some serious altitude for a E2X kit. However I would not use a standard Estes chute. I used a Top Flight chute 18" and I would get rid of the rubber band shock cord and replace it with 36" of 1/4" elastic and kevlar.

I have flown two of the BT-56-based twist-ring-motor-retention rockets on Aerotech SU 18mm D motors - the Astrobeam and two different examples of the RTF SkyTrax. Depending on the individual assembly you may or may not have to trim the ribs that hold the motor's forward end centered a little bit to get one of these in. Unlike an Estes motor casing, the Aerotechs don't give at all, leading to a possibly snug fit.

BTW, the extra hot/energetic ejection charge of the Aerotech SU motors cooked the BT20 inner tube of the Astrobeam.....but that should be no issue with your Eliminator.
