Default Wanted New scans of the Tiger Streak/Apache 2 Fins

the Centuri Tiger Streak (5357) and the Estes Apache 2 (1388) are the same rocket with different decals and paint, that's it. Over on plans.rocketshoppe.com they've got a (bad) image of the fin template for the Tiger streak, but there's no indication of scale, and it's so rough, I'm not willing to risk cutting balsa for it.

Can someone make a new scan of either one's fins (unassembled) that has some form of scale (like a ruler)?

Thanks!
Jim

On page 2 of the Tiger Streak PDF, there is a smaller outline of the two fins together. I've found that these "thumbnail" images are pretty accurate in shape. Enlarge that small image until it matches the area of the "rough drawing".

I think I used the outlines in the file to build mine. If the patterns are larger than the actual fins, trim them down to where the lines disappear. That's probably the thickness of a ball point pen around the outer edges of the fin. Anything else outside that line can be sanded off during the finishing process.

One thing to help with the fin size is that the booster fin root is the same length as the BT50J booster body tube.

BTW....this rocket flies very well when modified to use a D12-0/D12-7 combo.......

DOH! Yes! I'd forgotten that simple rule-of-thumb. The length of the BT-50J is the same as an engine casing, 2.75" Use that as the baseline for scaling correctly.

Thanks for that reminder, Joe!
