Revell 1/96 Scale Saturn V - Plastic Model Conversion
FOR SALE-an original unboxed REVELL 1/96 scale Saturn V model rocket kit. The original box was destroyed by moisture, but all the contents and instruction are present and in good condition. This would make a great candidate for a (PMC) Plastic Model Conversion. The price is $120.00 plus $10.00 shipping. Payment made through PayPal.
There are 183 pieces in white, silver and clear, a small decal sheet with 3 decals, and an eleven-page instruction booklet. The parts are nicely molded, with very little flash and good detail. There are four styrene sheets that roll into tubes to make up the larger sections of the rocket's fuselage. These tubes are printed with the rockets markings, i.e. "United States", "USA", etc. These tubes will limit the amount of painting you can do on this model. There is a stand included with the kit, as well as a lunar landscape base. The eleven-page instruction booklet breaks down the assembly into 41 steps, including directions for a nicely detailed LEM which will be hidden inside the rocket. The drawings in the instructions are very basic with little detail, and will probably make the assembly a little more difficult. |

This thing will probably fly about as well as most PMCs.....like a manhole cover.

That's a great kit with great detail and would make a spectacular static display. The last time I saw one locally was about 10 years ago and it was selling for $99.
For years in the 80's after the Estes kit was no longer available I considered doing a conversion for a 5 engine cluster but as I made my mind up to finally get on with it I found an Estes kit at Hobbylinc and got it instead. No doubt, for the right hobbyist, it would make a great kit either way. Well, I for one did see this model converted to fly and it did fly stable. It was the recovering device that failed and destroyed it. It can be made to fly. I had a few of these model to sell and through I would see if anyone here would be interested in one for display or a PMC project. It's not a bad price on them even if they're not in their original boxes. After all, it's the kit we build not the box. |
