Default Vintage Estes Defender builds

I am onto my next vintage build, trying to squeeze into by busy schedule. I am trying to get stuff set up so next year I am working a lot less making more time for fun stuff and my hobbies. I am building 2 defenders, One is sealed in great condition, the other is open with crushed body tube and some missing parts. I really like this rocket, simple as it may be still a cool looking rocket.

Please tell me you are throwing the POS crushed body tube in the junk heap WHERE IT BELONGS and replacing it with a pristine new one worthy of the build.
There is ZERO VALUE in using vintage but JUNK components.

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

I don't see any junk/crushed tubes in the pictures.

Just finished watching this week's Archer and came on to find this!
I love this rocket. Never had it in the day but have cloned it twice as a BAR, losing the first one and crashing the second (after 9 combined flights). One of my faves. Really looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

The OP said the opened one has a crushed body tube.
Never sniffed paint thinner.
Have been using a lot of MMT, Aniline, and Toluene octane boosters in the Corvette though.
