How to attach a Gearcam DVR
Hi... Just getting back into rocketry from a stint in the '80's... Want to attach a Gearcam DVR to an Estes Big Daddy... Where is the best place to put it & how do I adjust the CG to maintain stability?
Thanks, Ron |

One possibility would be to trim off the rear edge (not the whole shoulder, just the bottom edge) of the Big Daddy nose cone, then mount the camera up inside with a hole large enough for the round "eyeball" to poke out. This would move the mass forward on the rocket, and would eliminate most of the drag.
You could reattach that NC bottom piece with nylon screws for protection of the camera...

Thanks, Craig...
I may try that at a later date... Mean time, since I'm on a limited budget, thought I'd try one of those key chain mini's... Do you have any suggestions for the best quality for the least $? Thanks, Ron |

I've been attaching external cams at least 2 calibers ahead of the flight CG with success. On a Big Daddy though I taped about an inch above the CG and it flew great.
