Estes Ascender PS II E2X kit
I built and finished one of the new Estes PSII E2X kits over the weekend.
It was a good build. The only additions/modifications I made was to add a Semroc ejection baffle and to make two openings in the payload tube for future flying of an altimeter. I look forward to flying it in the near future.

Not a bad looking model. I particularly like the red metallic payload wrap.

It's not metallic so much as it is pearlescent (as is the white tube as well).

I had the opportunity to fly my Estes PSII E2X Ascender model today, Saturday.
Powered by an Estes 29mm BP E16-6 motor the Ascender launched into the California sky. The flight was steady and almost straight up due to there being no wind at the time. The rocket landed only a few feet from where I was standing. Excellent rocket/motor combination!

look closely at that last photo, at the smoke trail. looks like sparks flew off perpendicular from it and their trails leave a brush-like appearance.

I noticed that when I was cropping the picture.

Awesome pics Bob! I really like the new Estes PSII E2X Ascender. I wish HL stocked the booster for it but I don't see a peg for it (yet) but it would make sense for HL to carry it since my local store does carry the F15-0 engines ... although they are now sold out of F15-0's as of tonight! I mocked up the Estes PSII E2X Ascender in OpenRocket because the last version of OpenRocket had the E16 and F15 motor files included with the program. I wouldn't put much trust in the altitude results though as it's difficult at best to estimate the fin thickness cross section, airfoils ect. For what it's worth for anyone using OpenRocket the file and a few screen shots are also attached. YMMV. I couldn't find the plastic adhesive you recommended but I was able to find the Bob Smith version at a local hobby store and had good results with that. Thanks for the PM with suggestions! .

Steve,
That F15-6 altitude is pretty close. My Majestic took an Estes altimeter to just over 1300 feet over the weekend on an F15-6. The Majestic is a little shorter/lighter, but uses the same fins.

Hal will never have a " peg" for it because they have a shelf for it.
The shelf may be empty today but it will soon have booster boxes on it. Quote:

Bernard, Thanks for posting the altimeter data. As soon as our field opens this fall I'll be putting an altimeter in my Ascender as well. I may pick up an Estes altimeter (or two) or just use the PerfectFlite Pnut altimeter that I already have. .
