Micromeister is gone
I don't know if anyone else posted this info here on YORF, but we lost a good one.
I kinda hate to use links to that "other" place but I see no reason to re-type everything: https://www.rocketryforum.com/threa...er-news.150759/ Whether you liked him or not, Micro definitely made his mark on this hobby. Godspeed, Micromeister.

I am so sorry to hear this. I met him at a few NARAMs and we spent a bit of time together at NARAM 50.
I will miss him.

I always felt he did more to promote Micro Maxx rockets than Quest did.
He had to love those little rockets to have done as many as he did. I'm going to miss his post. You'll be missed. |

I met him at NARAM 50 and had the chance to talk with him and see his work. He was an enthusiastic modler and was glad to help out with tips, etc. The man had some stupendous modeling skills! No waiver, cleared to go, Micromeister. You will be mssed.

Yes, I felt the same way.
I also sat near him at the NARAM 50 prep tent. Quote:

John had very strong opinions on primer and paint. Best to just agree to disagree.
I was amazed at how many rockets he must have built in his lifetime. He seemed to have built every imaginable rocket, in multiple scales. What always amazed me was that you could mention almost ANY model rocketry topic, and John had a picture to provide, with detailed text added to the picture. I had reached out to John last November to inquire about his health, and to see how he was doing. Here is his reply: Lee: Thanks for the heads up from Ted. My usual e-mail is mrcluster@yahoo.com. I've been trying to be positive about my current condition but things have not been going so well. I've been fighting Prostate Cancer since 2014 with surgery, radiation and hormones but that nasty little PSA floating around in my system has infected my Lymph system and my oncologist is not sure what we will be doing next. I'm hoping to get into a clinical program out at NIH, but have not heard back from them yet. I'll keep pluging along so Keep the flyin Micronized. John. I'm deeply saddened by this news. John was a great help to me when I got started in rocketry years ago. I think we can all only hope to make such a mark on the world as John has.

I'm sure John wouldn't mind me posting this great place where he left all of us a great treasure of his work.
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups...%2001-26-17%29/ I have looked over these planes over and over and thought how much he loved these little rockets. |
