Ye Olde Rocket Plans Updated
I've finally started putting more stuff up on Ye Olde Rocket Plans again. The most significant update of everything I put on today is the over 350mb of The Estes Launch Pad newsletters donated by Bill Simon. You get a unique view into the inner workings of Estes from 1966-1970 by reading these newsletters. Thank you, Bill!
Most of the other additions are old submissions from 2004-2006. www.oldrocketplans.com The Estes Launch Pad Newsletters from Bill Simon 06-18-08 Cognis Aerospace Eenie Meenie from Dale Windsor 06-18-08 Cognis Aerospace Goddard-1 from Dale Windsor 06-18-08 Cognis Aerospace Magic Wand from Dale Windsor 06-18-08 Cognis Aerospace Sirius from Dale Windsor 06-18-08 Cognis Aerospace Southern Cross from Dale Windsor 06-18-08 Cognis Aerospace Zweistik Repulsor from Dale Windsor 06-18-08 Centuri Eagle Power Outfit #5404 from Bill Eichelberger 06-18-08 Estes Space Program #1443 from Bill Eichelberger 06-18-08 Thrustline Smoke N' Fire #TA-010 from John Rowan-Stern 06-18-08 Ace Tower Launcher Plans from Stuart Powley 06-18-08 1964 Uni-Jet Catalog from Mark Mayfield 06-18-08 Vashon Valkyrie-2 Fin Template from Leo Nutz 06-18-08 Vashon Valkyrie-2 Decals from Leo Nutz 06-18-08 Custom Landviper #10001 06-18-08 Updated Shrox Stealthie from Shrox 06-18-08

Well, what can I say.
The "The Estes Launch Pad Newsletters from Bill Simon" has got ot be THEEEEE update ever made. Reading thru the newsletters is thrilling and you really get to step into the history of Estes back in the early days. Fantastic! Thanks very much Bill!

Definitely! I noticed they had 271 employees at a Christmas dinner. I wonder what the maximum employment numbers were back in the heyday of Rocketry? BTW, I saw a neat little poem called "Saturn B" that mentioned Centuri and their Saturn V in it. That's showing friendly competition. |

From Issue #30: "We are sorry that John Hood was mauled by his pet monkey. We hope John will be able to be back to work , soon."
You just can't make this stuff up.... S. |

This announcement got me looking at the Extended Estes Kit List again. The biggest changes have to do with the "new" postings up at Estes. A quick guess suggests that some ten or twelve of the kits we've had listed as unavailable anywhere are now on the Estes website. Estes has also posted a bunch of "K" series plans in their collection. While all of these are duplications of what are available elsewhere, it's really nice to see them being posted in their "home" environment for a change. I should have the updated list ready for Scott in a few days.

My recollection is that we peaked out at close to 350 employees -- and that was all model rocket production and distribution -- no kites, handicraft kits, or similar non-MR stuff. --Bill |
