Those Quest fin cans are terrible if you want scale appearance- the fins are woefully thin and inaccurate.

I'm just guessing, that if an Astrocam fin unit is going to work, Joe PROBABLY isn't going for "scale appearance".

Gosh, guys, maybe I should have given you an outline of the project. I'm trying to construct a rocket that will have zero spin to carry a keychain cam. Because good fin alignment is critical, I felt that a good fin can would be the ideal starting point.

So I don't need a complete Nike-Smoke kit. Scott, I will probably be interested in one ( or a few, depending on what you need to get for them, to average down the shipping cost) of your fin cans somewhere down the road. Right now, I'm building a BT-55 based rocket from spare parts using an Astrocam fin unit. I hope to use the onboard camera to guide placement of fin tabs that will null the spin.

Thanks to all who have responded to this thread.

That's what I like about the spirit of sharing constantly on display among the bretheren of YORF. Here we have Scott nearly slap-out of a given item, but willing nonetheless to share sacrificiously with a brother in need!

The Estes Mongoose has given me perfectly spin free keychain camera flights if you want something that is just 1" in Dia. Filming the staging is great.

Just wanted to publicly thank Scott (Rokitflite) for the two beautiful Nike-Smoke fin units that he sent to me (free of charge, no less!). The generosity of the folks who lurk here is just one more reason I like this site so much! Thanks again, Scott! I'll post a video looking down past one of those fin units as soon as I can get 'er off the pad!
