Default Buck Rogers Starfighter

I have a Buck Rogers Starfighter in primer. The question is about the decals:

On the decal set that came with the vintage kit, the black portions are dark gray (no relation to Erin.) Are the decals faded or are they supposed to be dark gray instead of black? The artwork of the kit facecard shows black(ish) instead of dark gray. Sandman's decals have black.

Which is correct, dark gray or black?

Thanks!

When I built mine LONG ago but when they were still in production, the decals were VERY DARK gray or 'almost' black. Definitely NOT black, though....if they were supposed to be black, my decals were from a run that was some sort of malfunction-junction at the printer.

Mine are grey. The cockpit windows are darkest, but I wouldn't even call them "dark".

Mine are black. They took forever to settle down - really quite thick and a little rigid with age. Are your colours on the shield and the cockpit the same?

Yes. The gray of the shield, cockpit, and red-orange-yellow gradient border is the same.

John, I need to ask you again: what do I owe you?
