I sprayed one coat of grey primer over the entire rocket. After sanding smooth, I sprayed one coat of flat white only on the top. The bottom is still primer grey. Tomorrow I will spray one coat of glossy white, then the fun begins with masking.

It was cold today, but I was able to spray my Glossy White. I sprayed on coat of Gloss White on the top and will spend tomorrow masking for the Gray paint.

Well I woke up this am to find it raining, so the grey areas will have to wait a couple of days before I am able to paint. I am still waiting for my Krylon Glossy black to come in so I can spray the bottom of the shuttle and the last fin on my Apogee. By the way, you can still buy the old formula Krylon at Graingers or other industrial stores. From what I understand Krylon is still making the old formula, but they are only selling it to industrial shops.

This has been a fun project, other than all the masking. I think this is a real nice design, can't wait to fly her. I will cut the right sided flap tomorrow and add the decals.

I've never really thought about it until looking at your build pics, but this bird might be cloneable. I've carved balsa to make R/C airplane cowls. It might be possible to use that method to make a nosecone and OM tanks light enough to be flyable if they were hollow. Dangit...I've got too many things to build already.

Well it has been a busy day around my house trying to finish up my last 3 birds. With everything finished it is time to begin a new build. The Shuttle has been a fun build, and a little challenging with masking and painting. The rocket weighs just under 2oz. Also I have now completed all the Estes shuttle series minus the RTF or Almost RTF rockets.
