Default Shelf Queen?

Here is a question for all of you.

Is there a special rocket in your collection that you would never launch in fear of losing it or it getting too badly damaged?

If so, what is it?

Two models in my fleet that haven't been launched are the Dr. Zooch Soyuz and Zooch Mercury Redstone.
I was happy with the way they turned out and don't want to risk a rough landing.

I have built a lot of Semroc S1b models that I am pretty sure are never flown. Any follow up to owners always results in the same response - "would not want to". Makes me a little sad to build so many hangar queens.

My Estes Saturn V hasn't flown and has been stored on a high, safe shelf for about 15 years. It was the kit that brought me back to the hobby. I spent every weekend for a couple of months working on it and am very proud - and protective - of the result.

I do, however, have another Saturn V kit of the shelf that I'll build - and fly - some day.

The original Estes Saturn 1B from my youth. Didn't have the guts to fly it then, don't have the guts to fly it now. Shelf/storage Queen for 34 years now, so sad. Looking at some of my 11 year old construction techniques - using a bunch of spackle to seal the lower tank shroud- it most likely would have crashed back then, and without a bit of a rebuild, would crash now, sending me into a Super Nanny temper tantrum/meltdown right on the spot. Such is the sentimentality of this rocket. The paint has a nice yellow patina, the shock cord turned to dust and the parachute sticky tabs have long fallen off. It just comes down now for an occasional touch up with a Sharpie and a gentle dusting of the now yellowed paper on the Apollo capsule shroud. As a constant reminder of the glorious rocketry days of my youth it might not ever fly. It is easy on the eye so it will continue its journey on the shelf of honor as the last vestige of a long gone era to be found only in remembrance and dreams.

Sadly, several, and one of my favorites is my Goblin, signed by Vern and Gleda Estes.

Well yes, but that is not a "Shelf Queen" any more than the 1903 Flyer is.

More of a "retired" queen: I have a Enerjet 1340 that I
Flew at NARAM 50 and the asked Lee Piester to sign, which
he did). That's up on a shelf with the empty F28 Redline casin
still in it.

That's like my old clone of the Maxi Alpha. After about 25 flights, it was time for the Old Folks Home. It's been on the shelf since.
