Default Now I KNOW I'm getting old...

Here we go again... Hollywood "improving" another good old film...

Ya know, when they start remaking MATTHEW BRODERICK movies, you KNOW you're getting old!!!

http://blog.games.yahoo.com/blog/79...f-kong-director

Later! OL JR

PS... the comments are funny, but they didn't get everything right in the first one either... before the computer figured out you can't win tic-tac-toe and therefore cannot "win" a nuclear war and cancelled the missile launch, they showed the missiles "firing up" their rocket motors in the silos-- While Titan II's COULD have done this, being liquid fuelled, most of the missiles were Minuteman I, II, and III's, which are solid fuelled, and once ignited cannot be shut down... plus, they don't "fire up" and sit in the silo firing away, wasting fuel-- when the motors light, FOOM! their gone... and like the tour guide at the Minuteman missile Museum in South Dakota told us, if you ever see them leaving the silos in flight, it's all over... they ARE going to come down on SOMEBODY's head-- no recall, no self-destruct-- so the instant they leave the silo it's WWIII...

Luke ,

Hollywood is mentally devoid of any new ideas. I believe that there are only 30 some plots that one can use in a story.

This why sci-fi is so interesting as it gives old plot lines new twists.

If I ever do take up writing, I plan to use the King James Bible as a source of stories.

I love the story of Lot and would use his faith and willingness to give up his daughters as a plot line for a sci-fi thriller where the modern character gives up his daughters to the E.T. in the hopes of a better human hybrid. Then to stop him, the antagonist played by either Samuel L. Jackson or Mel Gibson, battles the aliens to save the daughters... well something like that. The Bible is just full of stories that can be morphed into modern block buster films!

Oh, Lindsey Lohan plays the evil Alien Queen ... more on that later!

Ask yourself, Why is the Cassey Anthony trial such a big thing in the media? Answer: Reality is stranger than fiction!

There is no way in HELL an Hollywood screen writer could have come up with this Cassey Anthony story and the little bit players involved.

OBTW, Transformers 3 was great for the first two thirds, then fell apart in the last 30 minutes Yet another $8.50 flushed down the toilet

I just saw Ice Station Zebra on Netflix and even today that movie is AWESOME!!!

If you or anyone else isn't familiar with 'Ice Station Zebra', I highly recommend it!!!

On a similar note, on Saturday mornings while working on my rockets, I have been watching AMC and the 30's 40's Tarzan movies ... OMFG what gems these movies are. Even after 70+ years, these Tarzan movies are entertaining and fun to watch ... where has the talent gone in America? There was a time when ... nevermind, no use bitching about the obvious ... well Captian America ... he is my final hope for Summer 2011!

J

I went to go see the Green Hornet since I liked the 60's version.

Poor decision on my part: poor writing + deplorable cast = waste of time + money

It's good writing that makes a movie or novel good. SPFX cannot carry a bad story, no matter how good it is. Star Wars had a great story with adequate acting, and the SPFX made what was good, better (plus you had a first-rate score by John Williams to top things off).

The formula for success is known, it's a mystery to me why there are so many box office flops. It's like they enjoy throwing away money.

Personally, I'm a fan of Red Box. If the movie stinks or is unwatchable, Mary and I are only out $1.

What?! No additional DVD with the "Director's Cut" of Nothing But Trouble?!

ALL of the STOOPYD transformers movies should have the tagline- "FARTformers ! Dawg Poop in disguise !"

In other words, they stink worse than a massive eruption of flatulence !
Total RUBBISH.

I never got into Transformers. The action figures were popular long after I was already grown up. I didn't watch any of movies or even the cartoons from the 1980's. Were they really THAT bad?

Oh God. We watched ISZ so many times aboard the Flying Fish that we could reenact it with sock puppets. Whomever drew the "short straw" had to be Rock Hudson.

I agree with Jonathan when he says that Hollywood has no new ideas. Not only are movies being remade but TV shows as well.

By the way, "Footloose" is being remade!

Bad remakes:

"I am Legend" - not that "Omega Man" was perfect...
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" - Whao... Robot-Dude...
"Star Trek" J.J. Abrams can kiss my @$$!
"Bad News Bears" - Billy-Bob... REALLY?
"Planet of the Apes" - just... dreadful
"Rollerball" - WHY?

Remake movies if you must, but make them better, not worse.
