Default Naram 54

I plan to attend NARAM 54 this year, it will be my FIRST one--so I'm a virgin (be gentle, please.)

My question is: since I'll be able to attend for only a few days and not the whole thing--what would be the most optimum days to attend? I don't plan on participating in any events--just visiting and watching.

Thanks! Jeff

To me Friday - which is Scale day - is the best, but I will be missing it this year

I've been to three, sport flying only, so I have no idea what goes on with the competition side. Saturday and Sunday are easily the busiest days for sport flying, so if you're coming as a spectator on that side, these would be the days to come. The rest of the week would be good if you plan to fly a bunch of birds, because the crowds are generally pretty thin and the waits are almost non-existent. Beer-lofting is apparently on Saturday night at the hotel, and while I've never been involved with a NARAM beerlofting, I have experienced a couple of NARCON beerloftings. As much as I enjoyed the whole NARCON experience, the beerlofting was easily the highlight of the whole weekend. I think the PMC competition is a highlight of the contest range, especially if you like carnage. I watched a little of it last year, but it wasn't for me.

With the extreme bent toward safety of the NAR, I'm amazed they still allow PMC flying at all. Whenever I have observed this activity, at least 75% of the 'rockets' result in "Trash Bag and Broom" recovery AFTER an impact. The "C" in PMC stands for CRASHER !

I actually like seeing the smash-UP of the models on firm ground but cannot undersatnd NAR allowing it in relation to some of the other stuff they disallow like EX, and etc.

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.

gh, I think the NAR 'secretly' likes to see PMC crashes. As you say, it's quite entertaining, when it isn't yours,

I agree it's entertaining, I'm just amazed that NAR still allows it with their GESTAPO-like attitude toward safety.
