After many such flights I later did 3x F67 to 3x F67 and 3x F67 to 3x G76. Once I did the U.S. Rockets version of the 2650 in circa 1980 I was able to obtain H motors as well. Once I made motors I was able to "obtain" J motors as well. Probably my most satisfying flight with a U.S. Rockets 2650 was 3x H240 to 3x J160.

The 2225 came along almost a year later along with a bevy of U.S. Rockets kits, about a dozen with BT-70HD I call BT-22.

The Hi-Test 2225 was one of the most popular rockets at LDRS-1. There were several Hi-Test 2650's as well.

Ah...you are of the Astrobee F school of thought (Aerojet went to flight tests--which they called "high-altitude static tests"--early in the Astrobee F's development). Its dual-thrust motor required a redesign of the dual grains' interface geometry, but the early flight tests had no bearing on that problem, whose solution was straightforward.

I'm sorry that I hadn't come across your dramatic Aerobee-Hi staging photo sequence before--Thank You for posting the link! (Since the new Semroc is resuming production of the MMI "Retro-Repro" kit, your son's booster would make a great accessory kit [or a plans set that you all could sell].) An A10-0T mini motor would likely work well in the booster, too (with either the Estes red plastic "split" adapter or a length of BT-5 with centering rings), and a similarly-"adapted" 1/2A3-4T or A3-4T in the sustainer would permit small-field flights. Also, using 13 mm motors in a Standard Aerobee model of that size (the booster could also use an 18 mm motor if desired) would facilitate the use of the tapered boat-tail of that original-type Aerobee.
