Freedom Launch, Orangeburg, SC this wknd
I plan on going to the Freedom Launch at the Orangeburg, SC Super Sod field this weekend. Saturday and Sunday are for Sport; Monday is for Research. Also, there will be a night launch on Sat. ! I love those!
Who's going and what 'cha bringing? I'll be able to go Sat and Sun only Probably bring some Hawks Hobbies Rockets: Orbital Transport, Super Solar Sailor; NCR Archer and/or Patriot and Bomarc (maybe Interceptor G); Q-Modeling Nike-X; Shrox Firefox; some Semroc x-kits and their upscaled Laser X; BMS Drifter and Viking 1; Tango Papa Mars Lander; other low power rockets (I usually decide at the last minute). My son has the x-kits and a Sky Hook. Allen |

Could you provide directions please.

For you RD (and for those coming south on I-77) : Come on into outskirts of Columbia, follow the signs to Charleston. You will be redirected before you get into the city, but what you want to get to is I-26 east. Head towards Charleston; Orangeburg is most nearly halfway to Charleston. Take the hiway 301 exit (not 601!) off I-26 and continue to the right as you come onto 301. On the Left about a block or two down, you'll see the SuperSod office. The road to the monster field is beside it. You should see the vehicles and tents then. See you there!
Allen Not sure what they will do for a tornado, but the car is good for rain protection in a storm! How do I know???? Here is the Tripoli of SC website for mor info: http://www.tripolisc.org/modules/se...article&artid=1 |

Would love to see you there Ken! BTW, it's exit #154A off of I-26, US301 south, about 3/4 mile past the truck stop, on the left..

The Tripoli website for the SC chapter has a lot of that info: http://www.tripolisc.org/modules/se...article&artid=3 The main hotel in Orangeburg would be the Days Inn : (803)534-0500; be sure to ask for the "Rocket Club" discount. There may be other motels there as well, but I commute from Columbia and don't have to stay at one, so I am not sure of ALL the beds available! I'll be there (at the launch) on Sat pm and all day Sunday. Allen |
